360 Cameras Android Head Unit Navigation System Installation and Debugging Instructions

I. Camera Installation

The specific principles for camera installation are as follows:

  1. The vertical tilt angle of the left and right cameras should be greater than 25° and less than 45°.
  2. The left and right cameras should be installed under the rearview mirror in the flat central area, and must be symmetrical on both sides. The installation point should be flush with the protruding surface of the front fender.
  3. Front and rear cameras should be installed as centered and as high as possible to minimize height differences among the four cameras. A downward tilt angle of approximately 30° is recommended. The installation height from the ground must not be lower than 40 cm.
  4. The glass surface of the front and rear cameras should be flush with the protruding parts of the front and rear body to avoid the lenses being recessed, which would increase blind spots.
  5. After installing all four cameras, the installer can adjust the position and angle of the cameras using the four-split screen image to achieve the best visual effect. To ensure optimal stitching quality, when viewing each individual camera image during calibration, the vehicle body should be centered on the screen with even dark corners around the edges.
  6. Side-view cameras should be installed vertically facing downward. It is recommended to use 180–190° horizontal angle lenses (models 8255, 3011, 6007, 8077). Alternatively, side-view cameras can be installed at a 30° outward tilt angle. In this case, it is best to use 210–220° horizontal angle lenses (models 6001, 3019).

II. Panoramic Calibration Preparation

  1. Lens Selection Select the appropriate lens type provided by the supplier. To fully demonstrate the product’s versatility and 3D effects, it is recommended to use wide-angle cameras (Horizontal FOV H > 200°, Vertical FOV V > 120°).
  2. Prepare one set of calibration mats (three types of splicing mats are available).

III. Mode 1 Panoramic Calibration Instructions

  1. Prepare a 7.5m measuring tape to measure the distance between the vehicle and the mats, as well as the front offset.

  2. Place the calibration mats according to Mode 1 guidelines: Align the center points of the front and rear mats with the centerline of the vehicle body. Align the black dots on the left and right mats with the corresponding side cameras. Secure the mats to prevent them from being blown by wind. The front and rear mats should be approximately 30 cm away from the front and rear of the vehicle. The left and right mats should be 10–30 cm away from the sides of the vehicle.

  3. Use the 360 software’s four-split screen in splicing/debug mode to verify that the cameras are installed correctly and the mats are properly placed:

    • A. Ensure the left and right camera images on the head unit match the actual left and right rearview mirrors of the vehicle (refer to the diagram and have someone walk around to confirm).
    • B. Ensure the front part of the vehicle in the left and right mirror images is properly aligned.
    • C. Ensure the side cameras can see both the front and rear of the vehicle body on both sides, with the body sides appearing parallel. The left and right views should fully capture the calibration mats (front, side, and rear), and the front and rear mats should be symmetrically distributed in the image.
    • D. Ensure the front and rear camera images are not upside down or tilted, and that the vehicle body appears at the bottom of the left and right camera images.
    • E. Ensure there are no obvious shadows, water stains, or debris on the calibration mats, and that the black and white areas are clearly defined.
  4. Use the measuring tape to measure and record the following three values at the designated positions on the calibration mats: AD = Left spacing, BC = Right spacing, EG = Front offset.

  5. Enter the calibration settings (password: 4321).

  6. Perform Panoramic Calibration:

    • A. Input the corresponding camera lens (Lens) specifications.
    • B. Input the front offset distance, left spacing, and right spacing (unit: mm).
    • C. Enter the vehicle model keyword and select the most appropriate model from the suggested list.
    • D. Select Auto Splicing. Wait approximately 30 seconds. Once “Splicing Successful” appears, the system can be used normally.
  7. To prevent data loss, save the spliced data (Engineering Settings → Export Parameters, save to the head unit).

  8. If automatic splicing fails, click the Manual Calibration button next to the Auto button and complete the stitching using the manual point selection method.

As shown in the figure: Click the red cross or the next point to switch points. Drag the points to roughly align them. Use the magnifying glass window for fine adjustments. Once all points are accurately aligned, click Confirm to proceed to the next image.

IV. Mode 2 Panoramic Calibration Instructions

  1. Prepare a 7.5m measuring tape.
  2. Place the calibration mats according to Mode 2 guidelines: Align the center points of the front and rear mats with the centerline of the vehicle. Secure them properly. The front and rear mats should be approximately 30 cm from the front and rear of the vehicle.
  3. Verify camera installation and mat placement using the four-split screen (same checking criteria A–E as in Mode 1).
  4. Measure and record the following three values: AD = Inner edge distance between front and rear mats, AB = Distance between left and right cameras, EG = Front offset.

5–9. Follow the same steps as Mode 1 (Enter password 4321 → Panoramic Calibration → Input lens, distances, model → Auto Splicing → Save data → Manual calibration if needed).

V. Mode 3 Panoramic Calibration Instructions

  1. Prepare a 7.5m measuring tape.
  2. Place the calibration mats according to Mode 2 guidelines (same as Mode 2).
  3. Verify camera installation and mat placement using the four-split screen (same checking criteria A–E as in Mode 1).
  4. Measure and record the following three values: AD = Inner edge distance between front and rear mats, AB = Distance between left and right cameras, EG = Front offset.

5–9. Follow the same steps as Mode 1 and Mode 2 (password 4321 → Panoramic Calibration → Auto Splicing, etc.).
